Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the iOS app "Ocren" (the "App") provided by YenSense, Inc. (YenSense株式会社, "we", "us"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. The App

The App is a reading-notes app that lets you photograph book pages, recognize the text on your device, and save and organize it as a record of your reading.

2. Accounts

• Using the App requires signing in with an Apple or Google account.
• You are responsible for managing your own account.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the App. Deleting it permanently removes all of your data from our servers.

3. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. All rights in the App belong to us or our licensors.

4. Prohibited conduct

When using the App, you must not:

• decompile, reverse engineer, analyze, or modify the App;
• copy, redistribute, transfer, lend, or sublicense the App;
• gain unauthorized access, exploit vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the App;
• infringe the copyright, privacy, reputation, or other rights of others;
• violate the law or public order and morals; or
• post objectionable content as described in section 5.

5. Posting to Recommend

• Posts to Recommend (such as book titles and comments) are visible to other users, together with your username.
• We have zero tolerance for objectionable content. You must not post defamation, discrimination, harassment, threats, sexual or violent content, illegal content, advertising or spam, or content that infringes others' copyrights (including lengthy excerpts from books).
• From any post, you can report objectionable content and block its author. Posts you report, and posts from users you block, are no longer shown to you.
• We review reported posts. If we determine that a post violates these Terms, we will remove it within 24 hours of the report and may suspend the author's use of the App.
• You retain the copyright in your posts. You grant us a royalty-free license to use your posts to the extent necessary to display them in the App.

6. Copyrighted works

The content of the books you photograph and recognize is subject to its copyright holders' rights. You agree to use the App lawfully as a private reading record, and you are solely responsible for any publication or distribution of text you recognize.

7. In-app purchases and subscriptions

• The App offers a "Remove Ads" subscription (monthly or yearly) that hides ads. Prices are shown in your local currency on the App Store and are charged to your Apple ID.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel anytime from Settings on your iPhone or iPad → your name → Subscriptions.
• Refunds are subject to Apple's policies. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• In-app purchases are also subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.

8. Your data

The books and memos you save are stored on your device and on our servers, linked to your account. We work to protect your data but do not guarantee its permanence or completeness. See the Privacy Policy for details.

9. Advertising

The App displays ads. We are not responsible for the content of ads in the way an advertiser is.

10. Disclaimers

• The App is provided "as is". We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the App's availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of text recognition, page-number recognition, or cover and book detail searches.
• Except in cases of our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms as needed. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continuing to use the App after a change means you agree to the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute relating to the App.
